Jackie Robinson started in national league baseball on the right track. He had numerous plays that got him the reputation of rookie of the year his first year with the dodgers and had great batting averages. His successes and great plays wound him up in the Baseball Hall of Fame which is an honor for a baseball player. His plays got him to where he is. It wasn't even just baseball he was good at. He was good at every other sport too. People still look up to Jackie as inspiring role model and a great baseball player who broke records. ("Biography of Jackie Robinson" 1).

While playing with the Royals, Jackie's batting average was a .349. Not only was his average good, he stole 40 bases as well. His fielding percentage was .985. Because of his reputation the royals starting naming him, "the new Babe Ruth". The team went on to playoffs later that year. While playing with the Brooklyn Dodgers his batting average was a .342 for well over 1,382 games. Jackie was the best baseball player during the time.
